Pat Cash visits Gozo

Tennis legend Pat Cash visited the Maltese island of Gozo at the end of October. The visit was arranged by the Malta Tourism Authority with the support of Air Malta and Vintage Travel, the star stayed in Gozo with his family and took time to meet young Maltese tennis players.

The star’s visit to Gozo will be featured in award winning Condé Nast Traveller’s bumper January 2010 issue, due out in December, just in time for the peak holiday booking season. Condé Nast is a top of the league travel magazine in the UK, with a circulation of 81,514 monthly. Its core readership of 335,000 are highly educated, intelligent and discerning high earners, who travel abroad 4 times a year for leisure and 7 times per annum for business. Malta will feature alongside other hot holiday destinations.

During his stay, Pat Cash attended a tennis clinic at the Marsa Sports Club, sponsored by the Malta Tennis Federation and the Marsa Sports Club. Former Maltese champion Gordon Asciak and Robert Tarpey joined Pat Cash for the session.

Alex Incorvaja, the Malta Tourism Authority’s UK and Ireland Director, comments: “Pat Cash is a real sporting legend and former Wimbledon Champion, so it was really fantastic he spent half a day meeting young Maltese tennis players and offering invaluable experience and tennis tips. We also wanted to give the Cash family the opportunity to experience the countless and diverse activities available to travellers who visit Gozo – an experience that will be well covered and promoted in the Conde Nast publication later on in the year.

This issue is available at: 0910.
