MTA supports News Xchange 2009

Now in its eighth year, News Xchange is the world's premier event for the international broadcast news industry. Each year, this event travels to a new destination, last year was Valencia, the year before was Berlin and 2006 was Istanbul. Around 400 delegates attended this year’s News Xchange to network with peers and, additionally, to learn from the world's experts on a host of topics from the international headlines.

This year, the 400 plus attendes of the international media's senior executives and most prominent journalists, arrived in Malta for a highly interactive, dynamic event. Hailing from 55 countries; nearly half of the delegates were Directors, Managing Editors or Chief Executive Officers, making this event highly prtigious. Anongst the organisations represented were ABC News, Al Jazeera, The Associated Press, BBC, Bloomberg, CBS News, CNN, Reuters, Russia Today and Sky News. Over the course of the event, the delegates were be joined by professional producers and moderators, whoexplore such topics as: Branding -- How to be Among the Big Brands Standing; Election Coverage -- how to make it interesting and how to get people to actually care; Social Networking - Time to Get on the Twitter Bandwagon; Doing More for Less.

PBS was the host broadcaster and supplied both technical and editorial support. The sponsors included Al Jazeera, CNN, ABC News, Russia Today, Reuters, Sky News, Pilgrims Media, the BBC and other large, international news organizations. The Malta Tourism Authority saw this event as the perfect vehiclle to present Malta at its very best to the likes of the President of CNN International, the Global Head of Marketing for Reuters and the director of events for Reuters too mention a few of the high flying media delegates. The event garnered extensive international coverage from Al Jazeera, CNN, Russia Today and the BBC. Malta, like Valencia last year, will be featured in numerous programs and receive significant coverage as a destination for travel, meetings and professional/association meetings
