In front of a sizeable audience, Mr Zahra demonstrated the use of the ‘Zaqq’, the Maltese version of the bagpipes and the ‘Flejguta’, a cane flute. Mr Zahra was accompanied on the tambur by Toni Camilleri. The ‘tambur’ and ‘flejguta’ are now available for sale in an attractive package, together with a CD of Maltese music. Mr Zahra presented packs to Secondary schools to use in the teaching of Music and Maltese folklore during Maltese lessons. This initiative supported by the Malta Tourism Authority together with other entities has attracted extensive media attentions, as the project gradually captures the imagination of the public.
