  • MTA Innovation Seminars

    The second in a series of Innovation Seminars, organised by the Malta Tourism Authority, Industry Human Resources Development Unit entitled Creative Thinking to Develop Innovative Products in Tourism was well received by over 40 local tourism and hospitality operators participating. This seminar, held on Wednesday 29th October 2008, served as an opportunity for exchange of ideas, offering insight into the creation of successful innovative tourism products.

  • Sbandieratori in Malta

    Between the 23rd and 7th October 2008, an Italian group of flag bearers were in Malta and gave excellent shows in Mdina, Valletta and Gozo.

  • SAS to fly to Malta twice-weekly from Stockholm

    During a visit to the newly extended Hilton hotel, which took place on the 4th of November, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Dr Mario de Marco announced that the airline SAS will start flying to Malta as of the end of March.

  • World Tourism Day 2008

    The 27th of September was World Tourism Day and the Malta Tourism Authority organised various incentives to commemorate the day.  This year’s theme was ‘Tourism responding to Climate Change’ and a number the incentives had as their aim environmentally friendly measures.  In fact the MTA produce 2 brochures targeting both hotels and their staff and the hotel residents.

  • Birgu Fest 2008

    Over the weekend of the 21st to the 23rd October, the Birgu Local Council together with the support of various entities amongst them the MTA, organised yet another edition of the Birgu Fest, the heart of which is the ever popular and enchanting Birgu by Candle Light.

  • Notte Bianca

    This year the MTA supported the annual Notte Bianca, which took place on the 4th October by sponsoring the foreign act by guitarists Lindsay Buckland from Australia, and Carlos Vamos from Spain.

  • Malta and Sheffield United FC host press trip from Malta

    Between the 16th and 17th of September 7 Maltese journalists travelled to Sheffield to watch Sheffield United FC play Coventry at Bramall lane on the 16th.

  • Caritas Malta art exhibition at the Auberge De Castille

    Caritas Malta is holding an Art Exhibition with the participation of some of the leading Maltese artists between the 27th and the 29th of November 2008, at the Auberge de Castille, Valletta. The Exhibition will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

  • Seabed clean-up in Wied il-Għajn

    The third sea cleanup this year in the Clean the Seas 2008 campaign saw around 60 divers offering their free time to clear 300kg of refuse along the coast of Wied il-Għajn.

    On the September 18, the ETC held an open day for refugees and asylum seekers interested in finding employment in the tourism industry.

  • Malta Tourism Authority competition winners receive prize in Spain

    On the 28th October 2008, Ambassador Gaetan Naudi presented Mr Jose Alberto Burgues from Madrid with a vacation for two to Malta.  This was the outcome of a competition held by the Malta Tourism Authority in Spain between mid June and mid September, aimed at all those who visited the international Fair EXPO 2008 in Zaragoza.  In total around 4,000 people took part in this web-based competition.

  • Lejl f'Casal Fornaro

    On 11th October 2007 some major parts of Qormi, a town famed for its making of bread, went back to the past with the activity of Lejl f'Casal Fornaro. This activitiy was organised by youth members of the 'Kummissjoni Zghazagh Bastjanizi' with the co-operation of Maypole Bakery Ltd, and also supported by the Qormi Local Council as well as the Malta Tourism Authority. All the hard work of the KZB and its members paid off that night, with an estimated 6,000 people attending this first event of its kind.

  • Excelsior Lecce Treasures, Miniature of Heaven

    'Excelsior' is the first name that was given to the locality today known as Marsa. This is also the name given to the Youth Section within the Holy Trinity Band Club who are the organisers of the exhibition 'Lecce Treasures, Miniature of Heaven'. After the success of the first art exhibition held two years ago at the same Band Club, this year another art exhibition will be organised which will feature religious paper Mache statues that used to be created in Lecce, Italy.

  • Cafe Brasil- Botafogu featuring Catia Werneck

    For the second year running, Fringe! Productions presents Cafè Brasil, now become a much awaited annual concert that aims to expose the culture , passion and virtuosity in Brasilian music. Last years event was a massive success with audiences who filled the concert hall on two nights, thirsty for the emotion and passion of Brasilian style.
