THE ISLE OF MTV MALTA SPECIAL 2008 EDITION
This year’s edition of Isle of MTV, once again had the massive crowd hyped up and dancing to the beat of a line-up, which was more varied in musical styles than the 1st edition last year. Even though it is being said that Enrique Iglesias’s second appearance on stage stole the hearts of the Maltese and the show itself, the other acts certainly did not disappoint.
New act Lady Gaga gave a unique memorable performance combining dance, music and theatre into one. Her show could be said to have taken the crowd by surprise (or even shock!) but was well received and had the crowds dancing in no time.
One Republic had no less a warm reception with their hits being belted out with gusto to the appreciative crowd who shook the granaries with their jumping.
Enrique clearly happy to be back, gave his best to the crowd and stirred them up into a frenzy with his energetic performance. The view from the Catholic Institute (on the left of the stage) was a sight to behold, the energy of the crowd was tangible!
The Kooks the newest band on stage will surely be a musical force to be reckoned with, in the coming months if there local performance in the Isle of MTV is anything to go by. The younger members in the crowd were certainly not disappointed by a band they identify with.
The closing act set to send the crowd home happy and content, had it begging for more!! N*E*R*D fronted by Pharrell Williams, stirred up the crowd once again after the mellower sounds of The KOOKS and the party mood just got better.
All in all this year’s Isle of MTV Malta Special, was a resounding success from all angles, with all the bands and singers stating they absolutely love Malta. The MTV Europe film Crew here in Malta to film for their stations said that in each clip they have of the singers and bands, Malta has been linked to the WOW factor and has them raving and pleading to come back.
