Last year's winners of the World Bikini Model International

World Bikini Model International & Miss European Tourism Beauty 2008

At a press conference held on the 23rd April, at the Dragonara Casino, the 6th edition of the World Bikini Model International and the 3rd edition of European Tourism Beauty were announced.

These contests have attracted over 40 participants from around the world, from places as far flung as Venezuela and Taiwan to the closer to home Sicily and England. This year's editions are taking place on the 24th June at the Dragonara Casino, with a full programme between the 19th and 25th June, where the contestants will get a taste of Malta' s Hospitality, Heritage and Diversity, and be able to go back with worthy testimonies of Malta's unique experience as a holiday destination.

The organisers are bringing to Malta no less than 28 overseas media entities from Italy, UK, Romania, Australia, South Africa, Germany Lithuania and many more. This coverage will be taking Malta into hundreds of thousands of foreign homes, who will see not only the beauties who are taking part in the contests, but the beautiful backdrop to them, which is Malta.

The Malta Tourism Authority is supporting the spectacular evening, which is looking to be jammed with beauty, fashion and colour.

Don't say 'Event' say 'initiative'... it's over a week. Also you could add some comments I made...

This is the fifth year that the MTA is supporting this initiative. First off we are supporting events with an international appeal, especially off-peak season (June is not technically peak), in an effort to continue enhancing our tourism product offer. If 2007 was anything to go by, this seems to be succeeding. Moreover, some 30 foreign media entities will be represented in Malta during this week in June to cover the initiative. As the MTA, we'll also be taking these journalists around Malta and Gozo so as to better promote these islands in their country's media. The promotional benefits to be gleaned from hosting journalists are innumerable. A number of photo shoots with the participants, using Malta and Gozo's landmarks as a backdrop, are also being organized.
