  • George Cross award re-enactment

    Marking the 66th anniversary of the award of the George Cross to the people of Malta, the Malta Tourism Authority organised a faithful re-enactment, complete with period costume for civilians, army, navy and religious personalities, including the original toga worn by Chief Justice George Borg in 1942. The KOMR - the Armed Forces of Malta band filed into Palace Square providing the right atmosphere for the presentation of the original Citation and Cross. The Guard of Honour of the Malta Police paraded in suitable pomp for the occasion.

  • White Russian at Warehouse Nº8

    Friday 25th and Saturday 26th April, the Jazz quintet, White Russian gave an exceptional performance at Il-Maħżen. Led by Maltese guitarist Sandro Zerafa, White Russian is a dynamic 5 piece set-up for which he wrote the compositions drawing on various influences ranging from folk to free-jazz, Keith Jarrett to the Beatles, Ornette Coleman to Thelonious Monk.

  • Loving Cup of England touring Malta

    The President of Malta, HE Dr Edward Fenech-Adami, received the Loving Cup of England from Bruno Peek OBE MVO. In 2007, the Cup toured the 50 cities of England where it was received by the Lord Mayors, Mayors and members of the public as part of the Enjoy England Celebrate St George's Day campaign. The silver gilt Cup, valued at £40,000, was brought over to Malta by Mr Bruno Peek OBE and Mr Rosendel MP to tour all the clubs dedicated to St George.

    The Malta Tourism Authority is in a continuous effort to avidly promote Malta in it’s core markets, with every possible promotional medium being considered, the MTA is actively promoting Malta in our core markets in an effort to continue making Malta more visible.   • Malta heats up to the beats of MTV

    The Malta Tourism authority has received information from very reliable sources that one of the front liners for Isle of MTV, Malta 2008 is going to be OneRepublic.  Though MTV have not confirmed this entirely, it looks like this popular group will be one of the A listers gracing the stage on the 25th June.

  • Creamfields opening in Malta

    The world's leading festival promoters Creamfields are set for an unprecedented year having just announced their international festival  schedule for 2008 which features a record breaking 13 shows throughout  the year. The companies flagship festival in Daresbury, Cheshire in  the UK will celebrate its 10th Anniversary August Bank Holiday weekend  and will coincide with Liverpool's Capital of Culture year, the show  will also see BBC Radio 1 return to broadcast live from the site.

  • MTA at Cannes fair

    The Malta Tourism Authority participated for the first time in the MIPTV Fair held in Cannes earlier this month. The MTA had the possibility to participate under the EU’s Umbrella Stand. MTA’s aim is to attract television programmes/fiction to come to shoot in Malta featuring Malta as Malta. Contacts meetings with various popular TV stations were made. Incentives offered by MTA for producers interested to film in Malta were discussed.

  • 10th edition of Simon’s Music Festival In Aid Of Eden Foundation launched

    At a press conference in Simon’s Pub Sliema, the 10th Edition of the Music festival in aid of Eden Foundation was launched.  Every year it gets bigger and better with more bands taking part and jamming for cause.  This year’s edition also sees the input of 3 musicians/bands from the UK, one of whom is Lucinda Sieger who is thrilled to be in Malta for the first time for such a beautiful cause.

  • Joseph Calleja in concert

    NnG Promotions is proud to present Joseph Calleja together with Nataliya Kovalova and George Petean under the direction of Mro Brian Schembri and the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert titled A Tribute To Pavarotti will take place on July 12th 2008 at St George's Square in Valletta.

  • Internet campaigns in Switzerland

    The overseas office in Switzerland has launched an online campaign on the Swiss news portal www.news.ch. During one week (from 21st to 27th April), visitors of the portal can find a teaser on the homepage linking to the advertorial about Malta. The report gives a short overview of Malta as holiday destination with topics like history and culture, diving, cuisine, language stays, accommodation in hotels, apartments and farmhouses.

  • Malta connections to Madrid three times a week

    Spanish low-cost airline Vueling plans to fly to Madrid three times a week, carrying some 45,000 passengers.  The inaugural flight took place on the 31st March.

  • The Gozo Youth Orchestra in Concert

    The Gozo Youth Orchestra within the Gozo Youth Wind Band & Orchestra has successfully staged The Gozo Youth Orchestra in Concert, Sunday 30th March at the Oratory Don Bosco. This concert marked the 5th Anniversary since its inception (2003-2008). The Orchestra consists mainly of 50 Gozitan Youths who after having pursued their musical studies both in Gozo and Malta on an individual basis, meet regularly in group to prepare an exciting and varied repertoire to be performed later on in concerts throughout the year.

  • STAR winners on Mhux Ghal Kulhadd

    Clare Agius has interviewed 4 of this year's STAR (Special Thanks and Recognition) Award winners for her late night programme "Mhux ghal Kulħadd". The interviewees are Frederick Cutajar- Mayor of Santa Lucija obo Ġnien is-Serenità, Andy Whibley - a boat man with A&S Water Taxis, Martin Hall - a sports instructor from the Paradise Bay Diving Centre and Patricia Flores Martin - a freelance tourist guide. The programmes are scheduled for May 2008.

  • European Project for the embellishment of the Birgu Coast

    The Birgu Local Council and the Fondazzjoni Temi Zammit have just started to form part of a consortium in the European Project called “Mediterranean Cooperation for On-Shore Accessibility and Sustainability Themes: Network for managing urban coastal areas” (MedCOAST.net). The Mayor of Birgu, Mr John Boxall, and Mr Jesmond Xuereb, Chief Executive Officer of the Temi Zammit Foundation, travelled to Sorrento for the first meeting of the project, where they presented the work that they plan on carrying out in Birgu. They were accompanied by Ms Fiorella Scicluna, from the Birgu Local Council, and Dr Monica Xuereb, who will be leading the project for the Foundation.

    Caroline Borg has been appointed to the post of Director for Business Development, to lead the company into launching its international growth and travel network.
