MTA's Chairman, Samuel Mifsud was presented an award from expedia for …. This year MTA launched a new stand for the ITB which was very well received and we hosted celebrity chef Rainer Mitze.
Even three German VIPs honored the Malta Tourism Authority’s new stand at this year’s ITB which is the world’s leading travel show with more than 11,000 international exhibitors.
Mrs Barbara Schöneberger, a very popular TV host and singer, paid the Malta stand an official visit. Mrs Schönberger is the marketing testimonial of leading internet travel portal opodo.
Mrs. Schöneberger was greeted by the MTA Chairman and other MTA officials. As a symbol for Malta’s history and hospitality, Samuel Mifsud, Chairman MTA, presented Mrs Schönberger with fine Maltese lace, a Maltese cross pendant and the Euro starter kit with Maltese coins so popular with numismatic collectors. Mrs Schönberger promised to visit the Maltese Islands soon.
In the culinary media circuit and trade reception at the Malta stand on March 5th, MTA Chairman Samuel Mifsud had the honor to appoint German TV chef Rainer Mitze as “Malta’s Culinary Ambassador” for Germany. Mr. Mitze turned the Malta stand into a fine display of Maltese cuisine with the assistance of various guests, including German TV host Mr. Kai Böcking.
MTA Germany has been co-operating with Mr Mitze for quite some time. He has a big passion for the Maltese islands and the uniqueness of Maltese cuisine. In 2004, Mr. Mitze opened a branch of his popular cooking colleges in Malta at “Razzett-l-Antik” in Qormi where holiday makers and incentive groups have the opportunity of learning how to cook Maltese cuisine. Moreover, Mr. Mitze has published a book about Maltese cuisine with a twist and is currently working on new books about Maltese olive oil and sweets. MTA Germany has planned some culinary projects with Mr Mitze, among these a film shooting with “Deutsche Welle TV”.
