  • German celebrities at the Malta stand at ITB

    MTA's Chairman, Samuel Mifsud was presented an award from expedia for …. This year MTA launched a new stand for the ITB which was very well received and we hosted celebrity chef Rainer Mitze.

  • ITB 2008 - investing marketing muscle in central Europe

    ITB is one of the most important trade exhibitions in central Europe. This year the MTA invested in a new exhibition stand to further enhance Malta's image in this important market. The stand was well attended also thanks to the visits of major media celebrities from German TV.

  • Manfredi shoots fashion by Charles & Ron

    In October 2007 Manfredi Gioacchini an up and coming Italian fashion photographer, was brought to Malta to photograph the Charles and Ron fashion show and the Maltese Islands.  The aim is to promote Malta as a beautiful destination with a difference. The dazzling designs by Charles and Ron incorporate the Maltese cross and the fashion show had a Village Festa as it’s theme. Gioacchini has worked as first assistant to the likes of Mario Testino the top fashion photographer and aimed to portray Malta as an elegant and natural Mediterranean beauty just like the local Maltese models who paraded the fabulous dresses designed by Charles and Ron.

  • SHAUN MURPHY CLAIMS MALTA CUP

    Once again the Hilton Malta hosted the Malta Cup a world ranking snooker tournament which sees top ranking snooker players gracing the tables of play.  Round by round the excitement grew and enthusiasts were treated to top quality rounds leading to 3rd Ranking Shaun Murphy winning the glory in this year’s Malta Cup.

  • BMW Malta Marathon 2008

    Once again Malta hosted the BMW marathon which saw the participation of hundreds of runners from all walks of life. Courage, comedy and determination featured in the marathon as can be seen from the photos in the gallery.  Every participant is a winner as the challenge to finish the marathon is no mean feat.

  • Cooking Cup Finals 2008

    Malta Tourism Authority in Germany has kicked off a culinary project. The Cooking Cup 2008 is an annual nationwide cooking competition in Germany for hobby chefs and Malta will be the host country for the finals in November 2008.  The host country of last year’s “Cooking Cup” finals was South Africa. This year, the focus will be on Mediterranean cuisine.

  • Malta recognised at Miami Seatrade Convention

    Between the 10th and the 14th of March 2008, a Maltese delegation was in Miami to attend the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention. During this visit, Mr. Sam Mifsud, Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority was presented with a commemorative silver plate by Seatrade Communications Limited, to mark the MTA's support and sponsorship of the 'Seatrade Winter Cruising Shipping Forum' that was held in Malta last January 2008. The presentation was held at the Malta Tourism Authority's Stand at the Miami Convention Centre. Official representatives at the Malta Stand were MTA Chairman Mr Sam Mifsud, Francesca Vincenti, MTA Cruise & Leisure Executive and Chris Paris, General Manager of VISET. The participants focused on the promotion of the Maltese Islands as the gateway to Mediterranean Cruising and as a competitive Home Port for top Liners looking to remain in the Mediterranean.

  • MTV in Malta for 3 more years

    Malta impressed the MTV crew so much that the Islands have been chosen to host not only a one day concert but a 4 day music event every summer for the next  3 years.  Music lovers must have thought Christmas came early when the announcement was made on the 29th of February. The dates for the June event will be announced at a later date.

  • MTA attending fairs and workshops in France

    25 travel agents and 2 small regional tour operators attended the Aix en Provence workshop on 28th February. Following this workshop Air Malta already booked 2 groups of 80 persons each. The Marseille airport covered the full costs for the Aix en Provence reception. MTA and Air Malta shared a boot on the Marseille Airport stand during the Mahana Marseille fair on 29 February 2008.

  • MTA re-launches ‘Merħba’ Training Programme

    The Industry Human Resources Development Unit within the MTA is responsible for the development of national human resource development initiatives for the tourism industry. This is done through promoting a service culture within the industry thereby raising service standards; through building a strong liaison with employment, education and training institutions on actions required for the industry; and through the implementation of EU funded projects relating to human resources development.
