Juve CEO Compares Malta to Juventus

On 5 November 2007, at a well-attended press conference held at the Vinova Juventus Sports Centre in Torino, the forthcoming Juventus visit to Malta was officially announced to the public.

La Vecchia Signora, as the legendary and world-renowned Italian Football Club is known, will be in Malta for a training camp between the 6 & 12 January, 2008 and will also play Valletta on 9 January 2008. Coverage for this event has been widespread across Italy, in the media and in papers such as; Corriere dello Sport, E Polis Milano, Tuttosport and Gazzetta dello Sport. In his address, Juventus CEO Jean Claude Blanc was very upbeat about the Malta training camp and was most complimentary towards Malta, favourably comparing our Islands to his team:

“Malta e come la Juve.. c’é un mix di tradizione, c’é molto storia, e Malta é anche molto moderna, come vuole essere la Juve.”

(Malta is like Juventus in that the country has a long and rich history, steeped in tradition…. but Malta is also very modern too…, as Juventus aspires to be). Mr Blanc also stated that Malta is not only a high-class tourism destination but is also a country with top class training facilities, worthy of prestigious clubs like Juventus.

The local press conference for this eagerly awaited event is on, the 29 November 2007, at Le Meridien, St Julians at 12.00hrs.

Malta boasts one of the biggest fan clubs in Europe, with around 20,000 supporters for this well loved team. This much anticipated event, organised by Renaissance Productions, is being supported by the Malta Tourism Authority. The MTA is in a continuous bid tomarket our islands in core markets such as Italy, also throughcampaignspromoting Maltaas a hub of activities, events and initiatives, employing the concept of: “Malta … It’s ALL happening here!”
