Malta fields largest presence at business travel fair in Spain
The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) fielded its largest presence to date at EIBTM - the global meeting and incentives fair, held in Barcelona Spain between November 27 and 29.
The Malta Stand at the fair was co-ordinated by the MTA and included the presence of its 27 co-exhibitors, including various business travel suppliers, such as leading hotels, Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and the national carrier Air Malta.
Over 300 buyers visited the Malta stand at the fair, which is targeted at promoting services for the conference and incentive travel industry. These clients could potentially bring thousands of pounds worth of MICE (Meetings Incentives Conferences and Events) business to the Islands.
Exhibitors at the stand were geared at promoting Malta’s offer to conference and incentive travel organisers, so as to ensure that Malta is selected as a destination for these events.
In order to enhance Malta’s presence at the fair ‘GrandMaster La Vallette’ welcomed guests, while professional aerialist Ms Delia Du Sol performed an acrobatic act on silks, which were rigged from the ceiling. The entertainment act depicted an abstract representation of Malta’s quest as a nation through history. Visitors at the stand were also treated to some local wine as well as traditional nibbles, including galletti (water biscuits), gbejna (Gozo cheeslets) and stuffed olives.
In addition, three weekend breaks (for two persons each) to Malta were put up for grabs through a business card lottery, which took place at the stand. The lucky winners will be coming to Malta to experience the bliss of an authentic Malta Experience for themselves. (The prizes were sponsored by Air Malta A&V von Brockdorff, Alliance Group, Dolmen Hotel Resort, Hera Cruises, Hilton Malta, Special Interest Travel and Suncrest Hotel.)
The Malta Tourism Authority’s co-exhibitors at the Malta Stand K600 at EIBTM included Air Malta, Captain Morgan Cruises, Celebrity Communications, the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, the Mediterranean Conference Centre and Studio 7.
Hotels exhibiting at the stand were Corinthia San Gorg and Marina, Dolmen Resort Hotel, Excelsior Grand Hotel, Hilton Malta, InterContinental Malta,
Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, Starwood Hotels & Resorts (Malta), Suncrest Hotel and The Palace.
A & V von Brockdorff, AGL-Alliance Group, Alpine Sterling C& I, Arrigo Oswald Limited, Colours of Malta, Destination Malta, EC Meetings, Events Travel & Incentives, MI Malta, On Site Malta, SMS - Conference & Incentive, and Special Interest Travel were the DMCs present at the Malta stand.
