Presentation at the MHRA AGM by the Marketing Department
On Thursday 1 November 2007, the MTA’s marketing team delivered a presentation to MHRA members highlighting the main elements of the Authority’s overseas marketing strategy for 2008.
The presentation focused on the positive performance registered during 2007, as a result of which Malta is one of this year’s European top performing destinations and provided an insight on the direction forthcoming from the MTA’s Marketing Plan 2008-2010. The practicality and cost-effectiveness of the current marketing setup was also presented.
Details of MTA's integrated marketing approach were explained. MHRA members were taken through the range of marketing and promotional tools which the Authority will be using during 2008, ranging from an ambitious television, print media and outdoor advertising campaign which shall extend between December 2007 and late spring 2008, an extensive public relations programme, trade, consumer and specialised fairs, internet and online marketing. The relevance and importance of joint marketing initiatives with tour operators was highlighted, together with a host of supporting activities ranging from travel agent training and familiarisation trips to ad hoc marketing opportunities.
The importance of sustaining existing and attracting new airline routes was also emphasised during the presentation.
The MTA presentation was concluded by stressing the importance of co-operation between all industry stakeholders to ensure that marketing funds are spent effectively and efficiently for the benefit of the destination.
