Maltese quartet to perform in Prague
The Malta Tourism Authority is sponsoring an initiative by the Manoel Theatre to take a Maltese quartet to play at the prestigious Estates Theatre, part of the 5 National Theatres of Prague. The programme will include compositions solely by Maltese composers with the performance at the 600 seat theatre on November 11. The MTA will take the opportunity to promote Malta to the local tourist trade.
The Estates Theatre was commissioned by the aristocrat František Antonín Count Nostitz Rieneck to provide general access to theatre - reflecting the Enlightenment ideals of the time. The theatre opened to the general public in 1783. Parts of the film Amadeus by Milos Forman where shot in the theatre.
