A Bumber Year for Tourism
On August 17th the Minister for Tourism and Culture, the Hon Mr Francis Zammit Dimech visited a number of hotels in Malta and Gozo to thank the staff and personally acknowledge the hard work the hotels have put into making the first six months of this year the most successful for tourism in the past six years.
Minister Zammit Dimech, Mr Sam Mifsud MTA Chairman and Mr Joseph Formosa Gauci President of the MHRA visited hotels from various categories in St Julian’s, Bugibba, Qawra, Mellieha and Gozo. The general feeling of all those concerned was that this summer was a resounding success. A success which has been attributed to the introduction of low cost airlines, intense marketing and advertising by the MTA, the efforts of the Government and MHRA to offer an improved product and an events calendar full to the brim with an array of things to do.
Minister Zammit Dimech thanked all concerned for their hard work and quality service and showed optimism that the good results we had in summer can be carried through into the winter. However the Minister said that we have to keep our feet firmly on the ground and continue with the work required.
The positive vibe cannot be echoed more strongly than in the words of eleven year old Tony Garofolo who was full of praise for Malta, stating that it is a friendly, cheerful, exciting place with excellent food and he would certainly be telling his friends about it.
