New adverts for the local media including Gozo promotion, heritage and hospitality

MTA focus on improving bed nights booked in Gozo

An internal advertising campaign aimed at foreign visitors to Malta has been launched by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), as an extension to advertising campaigns that began in October 2006. The advertisements position Gozo as a place which can only be truly enjoyed by an overnight stay. A fact well known by most Maltese already. The promotional initiative shows 8 different photographs of Gozo and explains under the headline ‘Ssssssh…Stunning Gozo’ why an overnight visit to Gozo will be rewarding for visitors to the Maltese Islands.

With tourism arrivals for Q1 2007 showing some signs of improvement over 2006 there is still a need for all of us to be aware of our international marketing message. Malta, as a destination, is being repositioned as a desirable ‘designer label’ in the Mediterranean. Good marketing starts from the inside out.

The MTA continues to recognise the need for reinforcing and repeatedly explaining Malta's promise. We all meet, greet, and assist visitors to Malta in many different ways. We are the face of Malta. Our best offerings are soft assets like knowledge, experience and people. The recent ‘Unique Heritage’ campaign allows all Maltese to become better acquainted with some of the local culture and interesting places of historical interest to visit. Under the banner ‘Our Country. Our Treasures.’ this is part of a series of public service announcements issued by the MTA to provide greater appreciation by Maltese people of the island¹s key cultural attractions.

MTA also has a new advertisement featuring the recent winners of the MTA STAR Awards (Special Thanks And Recognition). These winners come from many different sectors of the Maltese hospitality industry, from hotels, restaurants, diving schools, to bus and taxi drivers, and even a karozzin driver. Each was voted by visitors for excellent hospitality and service and for bringing to life the values that we are advertising Malta abroad with Hospitality, Diversity and Heritage.
