Malta and Gozo on Travel Channel

Malta and Gozo have featured recurrently on Travel Channel over the latter half of 2006 following shoots in Malta and Gozo in August last year. The campaign kicked off with a Gozo Competition in the July edition of Travel 2006. This was secured by a leading Malta specialist in the UK that is intensifying its promotional efforts for Gozo.
Malta was used a Travel Channel’s link location in the October edition of Travel 2006 which featured Malta and a special diving feature off the island of Comino. A further Malta feature appeared in the December edition of Travel 2006.
Gozo is currently featuring in the February edition of Travel 2007. “Gozo, the little sister island to Malta has always be a favourite with day tippers but now promises to be the hot spot for those in search of the unspoilt Med.” Travel Channel. The focus of this feature is Gozo as a destination in its own right and includes interviews with Naomi Attard who heads the Gozo Unit within the MTA and Nigel Borg Cardona of Chevron Holidays.
In total in excess of 125 screenings were broadcast on Travel Channel UK and Travel Channel Europe. Travel 2006/2007 is Travel Channel’s flagship magazine programme, bringing viewers topical stories and features from around the globe. A final destination feature on Malta will feature in September 2007. Reinforcing the message to a select and responsive audience is of paramount importance to achieve market penetration commented Naomi Attard. The cohesive plan negotiated with Travel Channel with the support of Chevron Holidays is a tangible example of private and public sector collaboration and the result of relationship-building with tour operators.
